Keep your Hands Soft and Smooth During the Winter

People often overlook skin care for their hands. Taking care of your hands is especially important in the winter time. The cold weather can really take a toll on your hands. They can become red, cracked, and sore. Keeping your hands smooth and in good condition is not hard, it just takes a little planning.

Anytime you are going out into the cold wear gloves. The cold wind and snow are very damaging to your hands. The skin on the hands in thinner than other parts of the body. If your gloves become wet change them right away. Wet gloves will irritate the skin.

Use a good moisturizer on your hands. You want one that is thick and will provide ample protection for your hands. If you like to exfoliate your hands do so occasionally.

A paraffin wax treatment can keep your hands soft and smooth. It would be perfect on a cold day. The warm wax is very soothing.

Your hands don't have to suffer because the weather is cold. Just make sure to keep them protected whenever you are outside.

Winter Skin Care Tips

When the weather begins to turn colder you need to change your skin care routine. The cold weather can dry your skin out. Cold weather also can cause your skin to become red and irritated. Here are some tips to help you keep your skin feeling smooth and soft during the winter months.

First you need to look at your cleanser. It may now be too harsh to use when the weather is frigid. You need a cleanser that is not going to make your skin dry. You want one that is gently to your skin.

Next your moisturizer may need to be changed. In the summer we usually choose a lighter moisturizer. In the winter our skin needs protected from the harsh clod weather conditions. You will want a heavier moisturizer. Consider one with almond or jojoba oil. You need moisturizer on anytime you are going out into the cold.

Don't forget the sunscreen. Just because summer is over doesn't mean you ditch the sun protection. The sun's reflection level is greatly increased with snow. You still need to use sunscreen anytime you are going outdoors. You can save time by finding a moisturizer with a built in sunscreen.

Don't let the cold weather wreck your skin. Change your skin care routine with the season.

Your Skin Can Tell What's Happening Inside Your Body

Did you know your skin can alert you to problems that are inside your body? Mysterious rashes and bumps can be a sign of something more serious going on.

If you notice your skin is looking discolored there could be something happening in your body that is the cause. If your skin looks yellowish orange it could be you have been getting to many foods that contain beta carotene. If your skin appears yellow it could be a sign that something serious is occurring with your liver.

Psoriasis which is thick red skin with white flaky patches could be a sign of inflammation inside your body. You need to see a doctor to be certain of what is happening.

An unusual bump or mole needs to be checked by a doctor. It could be a sign of something very serious like skin cancer. Always do a thorough check of your skin when you bathe or shower each night. If you see something that wasn't there before, or if your skin looks abnormal, make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible.

Saving Time on your Skin Care Routine

Your skin care routine does not have to take a lot of time to complete each day. Your routine should be simple enough that you don't feel rushed or pressured when you are doing it. If you skin care routine is making you stressed it is time for some changes to be made.

You don't have to spend hours working on your skin each day. This will tire you out and you will give up. Soon you won't do anything to take care of your skin. You only need to do a few basic things each day to keep your skin looking healthy and young.

The most important part of your skin care routine needs to be moisturizing. You must have a moisturizer to use daily. The best time to moisturize is after you get out of the shower or bath. Your moisture needs will vary with the seasons.

The next important part of a skin care routine is sunscreen. If you are looking for ways to save time with your skin care regiment consider a moisturizer with sunscreen built in. You will be taking care of two steps with one product.

Finally you need a good cleanser as a part of your skin care routine. You never want to go to bed with make up on no matter how tired you are. You will want a cleanser that is gentle on your skin.

Your skin care routine does not have to be difficult. You also do not need every new product you come across. Don't add more work for yourself.

Types of Visual Changes® Designer Peels®

Yesterday we discussed what Visual Changes® Designer Peels® are all about. Today we are going to go over the different types of designer peels that we offer at Avanti.

The first designer peel we offer is Light Exfoliation – Designed to show immediate improvement in skin challenges resulting in a healthier-acting, younger-looking, radiant complexion.

The second designer peel offered is the Designer Peels® Medium Exfoliation (Stratum Granulosum) – Designed to show immediate improvement; however, best results are generally seen after about 3 days. This skin renewal process may cause the skin to shed its outer dead layer resulting in more dramatic results for skin challenges, thereby promoting healthier-acting, younger-looking skin.

Third we offer the Superficial Designer Peels® (Basal Layer) – Designed to provide complete epidermal rejuvenation in approximately 7 days. During this skin renewal process patients’ skin generally eliminates most damaged and dysfunctional skin cells from the epidermis. This will cause stimulation and migration of new skin cells throughout the epidermis resulting in new, fresher, healthier-acting, younger-looking skin.

Next we have the Medium Depth Designer Peels® – This medical peel is designed to eliminate damaged and dysfunctional skin cells of the epidermis and papillary dermis. In addition, it stimulates the skin’s own repair mechanisms to regenerate collagen and elastin in the dermis thereby firming the skin and diminishing wrinkles and scars.

We also offer Depigmenting Treatments® which are very innovative and extremely effective professional skin lightening treatments appropriate for use on the face and body and for all skin types. They are formulated with tyrosinase inhibitors (skin lighteners), natural fruit acids, herbs, antioxidants, and other natural, beneficial ingredients, to improve the appearance of your skin, while promoting optimum skin health. Our unique process of blending science with nature creates Visual Changes® by helping to fade existing hyperpigmentation and melasma while assisting in the prevention of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation for a more even-colored complexion.

Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is a non-invasive procedure that involves injections into the middle layer of skin, to stimulate the removal of cellulite, wrinkles, excess fat, and sagging skin. The treatment involves localized injections of homeopathic and traditional medications in addition to vitamins.

Mesotherapy can be used on various parts of the body. Most generally, treatments under the chin, arms, abdomen, buttocks, thighs, and sagging skin in other areas may be treated.

Anyone looking to get rid of cellulite, wrinkles, or sagging skin could benefit from having Mesotherapy treatments. This is a great alternative to procedures that require anesthesia and surgery.

The treatment itself involves injections into the mesoderm layer of skin. This can cause patients to feel some heaviness or discomfort. Each person's side effects will vary. There is no recovery time. There is nothing to heal from.

Results can be seen gradually since the body takes time to alter its internal structures. The amount of treatments needed will depend on the area being treated.

Facial Vein Therapy

Facial Vein Laser treatments are used to eliminate small, red-to-purple spider veins that appear on the face. Using a special laser hand piece a light is directed on the vein you wish to remove. The blood vessel absorbs the energy emitted from the laser. The laser generates heat which causes coagulation of the blood vessel. The vessel is destroyed and the body eventually reabsorbs it.

Facial Vein Therapy treatments only last a few minutes, but depend on the number of veins you are having done. Dark or purple veins are harder to remove than pink or red ones. They may require multiple treatments.

Discomfort after the Facial Vein Therapy procedure is minimal. Some swelling, redness or (rarely) blistering may occur around the treated areas, and the skin may feel tender for several days. In order to maintain optimal results, it is important to apply sunscreen regularly and avoid prolonged sun exposure. Applying ice to the treated area can help minimize swelling and inflammation.

Pearl laser Resurfacing Treatment

Pearl Laser Resurfacing procedure is used to treat skin that is aging or has been damage by sun
exposure. It us used to reduce wrinkles and uneven skin textures while leaving the skin looking healthy and glowing.

During a Pearl treatment, the top layer of the skin is treated with pulses of light. A portion of the epidermis (skin surface) is gently removed and a natural protective dressing is formed on the skin. After 3-4 days, the protective dressing peels off revealing new, healthy, vibrant skin underneath.

The Pearl laser treatment replaces the entire top sun-damaged layer of skin with new healthy skin. Also, it sends heat to deeper layers of the skin stimulating new collagen growth. This will fill out and decrease fine lines and wrinkles. New collagen growth continues for 4 to 6 weeks after treatment. The combination of new skin and decreased wrinkles results in a healthier, more youthful appearance.

The recovery time from the Pearl laser treatment is minimal. You can go about normal daily activity right away. You may wish to avoid any important social events though. Your face will appear pink or red for three to four days after the treatment is performed.

The procedure takes around ten to fifteen minutes for the entire face. Patients describe the treatment to feel like a series of brief pinches. On a pain scale of 1-10 it would be a 2 or 3. The skin will look sun-burnt after the treatment. You will need to protect your skin from any sun exposure for the first few days.

You will see noticeable results on day 3 or 4, when the superficial tissue has peeled off, leaving fresh, new, healthy skin underneath.

Are you Eating a Healthy Skin Diet

Everything we put into our body affects the way our skin looks. If you eat a diet filled with sugar and processed foods your skin is going to pay the price along with your overall health. If you eat a healthy skin diet you will see the results with your glowing skin.

Some things to avoid if you want your skin to be at its healthiest are fried foods, high fat foods, high sodium foods, processed foods, greasy foods, bad carbs, and consuming too much alcohol. These are all terribly bad for your skin.

A healthy skin diet should consist of fresh vegetables and fruits, lean proteins such as chicken, healthy fats and oils, cold water ocean fish, nuts, limited amounts of whole grain foods, and plenty of water. You need to drink at least eight 8oz glasses of water a day. The more you can drink the better your skin will be.

Also, the more foods you can buy that are organic the better. Harmful chemicals and pesticides are not going to benefit your skin or health. By eating a healthy skin diet and taking care of your skin with a daily skin care routine you will have gorgeous glowing skin.

Rejuvenate your Hands

Yesterday we discussed using Radiesse® to rejuvenate your hands. Today we are going to talk about three other treatments that can go along in making your hands youthful again.

IPL-Photorejuvenation- uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to target red and brown pigmentation. The light passes harmlessly through the skin and is absorbed by spots and lesions. Abnormal cells are destroyed, leaving only healthy tissue behind. IPL also promotes the growth of collagen, fills in scars and gives skin a youthful glow.

During this treatment the skin is cleansed and gel is applied to the hands. Then the light is applied over the skin. Once the treatment is over the gel is removed and sun block is applied to the hands. You are able to return to normal activity immediately following the procedure.

The next treatment to help turn back the hands of time for your hands is Microdermabrasion Hand Treatment. An anti-aging hand treatment that sloughs off unwanted dry or damaged skin cells, thus reducing fine lines and wrinkles. This new technique involves manually applying specifically formulated micro-magnesium oxide crystals designed for deep exfoliation. Enzyme rich creams are then applied to deeply moisturize your skin.

Microdermabrasion is a closed vacuum system delivering aluminum oxide crystals to the skin. This process exfoliates the thickened epidermis…and then vacuums away the crystals and skin debris to reveal healthier skin.

The third treatment we recommend to help with your hand's aging skin is Paraffin Hand Treatment. Besides the therapeutic benefits such as increased circulation, improved skin color, and relief for aching joints, Paraffin Hand Treatments are very soothing and relaxing and leave your hands smooth and soft. This is a great way to relax after a stressful day.
